Port Chester police said. Maria Isabel Loja reported her car stolen around 11 p.m. Saturday, saying she could not find it on Willow Street, where she had parked it at 5:30 p.m.
But police officers said they saw Ms. Loja driving her car during the time she said it was parked.
It was noticeable, the police said, because of fresh damage.
The 2007 Honda Accord was found on the other side of Port Chester on Parkway Drive around midnight, police said.
The ignition had not been tampered with, police said, but the air bags had been deployed.
Police said Ms. Loja of 26 Grace Church St. had slid into a guardrail
Ms. Loja was charged with falsely reporting an incident, a misdemeanor.
