11/29/07 - Translation Needed For This Article About Acosta, Brakewood, Crane, Didden, Lopez, Pilla, Quiroz, And Sorensen

UPDATE:

Has Provided A Translation:

Many have been asking about the English translation to the last post, so nice to see that our blog is getting around...here it is:

When Mayor Dennis Pilla invited Port Chester residents to submit their letters of interests and resumes for village trustee appointments, three Hispanics answered Pilla's call...they were Rev. Ariel Acosta, Blanca Lopez, Director of a not for profit housing program, and Walter Quiroz, a tax accountant.

So what happened?

From the twelve candidates who sought appointments, the Board of Trustees appointed two African American men for the two open seats.

And why wasn't a Hispanic appointed?

It is not that there weren't any Hispanic candidates who were not prepared for this position. It is the opinion of this writer that Ms. Lopez was the best candidate for this position, but the two Republican Trustees, Robert Sorensen and Dominick Cicatelli, and the formerly registered Republican and now Independent Trustee, John Crane decided not to vote for her. Why?...because they felt that Lopez was too involved in politics since she was the Campaingn Chair for Trustee Brakewood and former Trustee Pilla when they ran two years ago, and also Chair for Mayor Pilla, when he ran last year. So, Lopez only received votes from Mayor Pilla and Trustee Brakewood in her quest to becoming appointed.

Wow...never in the history of Port Chester, has a Hispanic woman...an immigrant woman, I should say, like Lopez been involved in promoting change for this community and in such a short time; and that is possibly why, because of her involvement, that is has also created some backlash, because we all know that when an individual or group of people advance in this social system that we live in, there will always be people who will try to stop their progress.

So, lets analyze reasons why these three Hispanic candidates were not appointed....

Early last year, Rev. Acosta ran for Trustee with the Republican team. He ran with Mr. Cicatelli, and Bart Didden, our favorite village racist who was the mastermind behind the so called anonymous flyers where he referred to Lopez as a "wolf dressed in sheep's clothing and that she was "in bed with Pilla." It was discovered that he had assistance from current Trustee John Crane and then Board of Education President Dominick Bencivenga with the planning and editing for this flyer. Everything came out in the open when the Dept. of Justice questioned Didden and he immediately vomited to the feds everything he knew and those involved.

So, it seems that although Rev. Acosta wanted to become involved in this campaign to promote Hispanic participation and most importantly, get the Hispanic vote, the Republicans used him to promote their stance with Hispanics and to show the feds that they had recruited a Hispanic to run with them. Sadly, although Rev. Acosta wanted to be appointed to one of the open trustee spots, nobody voted for him, not even his republican counterparts, Cicatelli or Sorensen. I think that the Republicans used Acosta for their own benefit, and when he needed them they left him out to dry. Poor Reverend, he did not deserve this.

Mr. Quiroz also submitted his resume like a good citizen, but I do not think that he knew much about what this position entailed.

Well, so now lets analyze why

Lopez was not appointed, and this will be easy:

First, there is a rumor in PC that Trustee Sorensen wants to run for mayor in two years, and for trustee this coming March, so now he has to work very hard to please the Republican party and he needs to strenghten his position in it. The problem with Sorensen is that he owes a lot of money to the village because he has not paid his parking tickets. I do not think that PC voters will suppot a candidate who owes money to the village and who has shown to be a bad example for village voters. Maybe Sorensen should give up some or all of the $5k he gets from serving as trustee every year, and maybe that will satisfy his debt.

On the other hand. Mr. Cicatelli just looks lost....he lost the mayoral election, and now he is serving a term that has already expired. It seems that his vote against Lopez, was simply for revenge.... well, that's politics.

So what about Crane....who changed his party affiliation from Republican to Independent a couple of months ago, and who also wanted to be appointed Village justice earlier this year. Unfortunately, Crane, an attorney, represents landlords like Great American, who exploit Hispanics and rent "problematic" apartments and rooms. Seeing how Lopez works in the housing area and knows about housing policies and laws, she may have been seen as a challenge for Crane. Also, it is not surprising that he voted against her since he was involved in the creation of the flyer which was sent to every voter in Port Chester.

There are so many things going on in this little village. It reminds me of a Mexican soap called "Pueblo Chico, Infierno Grande." But, we have to recognize that the appointments made by the trustees was a slap in the face to Hispanics. How is it possible that in a community with a large Hispanic population, there is no Hispanic representative? However, it is also important to understand that if and when a Hispanic candidate runs for office, he or she must be professionally prepared and want what is best for the entire community. But that person must also know about the problems and challenges faced by immigrants as they acculturate into American society.

It is important that we as voters learn and understand each candidate's platforms and the relationship that they will have or have with the Hispanic community, in order to be assured that they will perform a responsible job once in office.

During his Mayoral comments at the last Port Chester Board Of Trustee's Meeting Mayor Dennis Pilla said that he did not feel that gang violence was a major problem in Port Chester, but he wanted to nip this activity in the bud.

One of the first things this committee will consider is the mayors plan to have a village youth talent show at the Capitol Theater.

Mayor Pilla also wants to re-activate the Port Chester Youth Bureau.

At the last Port Chester Board Of Trustees Meeting Mayor Pilla said it was impossible for Port Chester to arrest it's way out of it's gang problem.

Mayor Pilla said he wants to provide economic, educational and recreational activities for the youth of Port Chester.

11/14/07 - Stop The Censorship In Port Chester Goverment

True Blue Conservative Complains To Port Chester Board Of Trustees About No Longer Receiving Press Releases And Board Meeting Press Kit.

Port Chester used to layout press kits for all members of the press at each Port Chester Board Of Trustees Meeting. The press kits were placed next to the government access camera.

For nearly two years The True Blue Conservative received the press kit and used it to keep the single family homeowners of Port Chester informed about what is occurring in at Board Of Trustee Meetings.

Further, The True Blue Conservative has shared items in the press kit with members of the public that attend Port Chester Board Of Trustee Meetings to get their reactions to pending governmental actions.

However, the True Blue Conservative stopped receiving the press kit, when he shared the contents with Port Chester citizens opposed to a client of Bruno "Spot Zone" Gioffre's request to create two flag lots.

It appears that the True Blue Conservative is being punished by Port Chester Village Manager and Clerk Bill Williams for sharing information with concerned single family homeowners in Port Chester.

Several times during the last two years the True Blue Conservative has spoke at Port Chester Board Of Trustee meetings that the Port Chester press kit, all individual press releases, and all documents related to public hearings should be put on the Port Chester Village web site.

Moreover, the True Blue Conservative has repeatedly requested that copies of the Port Chester Press Kit and all Public Hearing documents be made available to all citizens at a table at each Port Chester Board Of Trustee Meeting.

To date a only hand full of press releases have been put up on the

Port Chester web site.

Former Village Clerk Kieth Rang had put a couple of links to Public Hearing documents, but once the public started accessing these documents and cumming to the public hearings well prepared the practice was quickly stopped.

This censorship in Port Chester has to stop.

The County Of Westchester provides press kits to small publishers and web sites, such as Westchester.com.

The City Of White Plains provide press releases to small publishers and to web sites such as White Plains CitizeNetReporter.

The City Of Yonkers provide press releases to small publishers and to websites such as The Yonkers Insider .

Many other Westchester Cities, Towns and Villages provide press releases to small publishers and websites. In fact, we are not aware of any governmental body in all of Westchester County that has curtailed or refused to provide press releases to small publishers or web sites, except for Port Chester.

Port Chester Trustee Dan Brakewood used his trustee comments time to expressed that he thought the newspaper coverage of how the two new Port Chester Trustees were selected was one sided and very negative.

Port Chester Trustee John Crane also used his trustee comments time to echo Trustee Brakewood's Comments that the newspaper coverage of how the two new Port Chester Trustees were selected was one sided and very negative.

Port Chester Mayor Dennis Pilla concurred with Trustee's Brakewood and Crane and use his mayo rial comments time to say that he was going to battle the negative newspaper coverage by increasing the number of media outlets that received press kits.

In fact, Mayor Pilla said that he had already doubled the list of television and cable media outlets that received a press kit for the last Port Chester Board Of Trustees Meeting.

Guess what happened?

When the new Cable and Media outlets were added to the press release list and made aware of the Port Chester Board Of Trustees Meeting they showed up and covered the meeting.

The last Port Chester Board Of Trustees Meeting had television cameras from Channel 75 -The Cablevision Government Access Channel, News 12 and RNN - The Regional News Channel.

Port Chester Mayor Dennis Pilla has promised that Port Chester Village Manager And Clerk Bill Williams will once again have Press Kits available to all members of the media who show up at the next Port Chester Board Of Trustee's Meeting.

Hopefully, the press kits will be made available so that the single family homeowners will be kept fully informed about how their tax dollars are being spent in Port Chester.

Let's face it their has not been one article in the hopelessly biased rag known as the Westmore News about how Port Chester Development Consultant Gary Gianfrancesco has pocketed close to one and a half million dollars on the bottomless money pit known as the old Horton School.

At the last Port Chester Board Of Trustees meeting their were several resolutions about the bottomless money pit known as the old Horton School. The Abel's who own the hopelessly biased rag known as the Westmore News were given a press kit showing how Port Chester Development Consultant Gary "I Made Over A Million At Horton School" Gianfrancesco marks up contracts and change orders by an outrageous 21%.

However, the True Blue Conservative is not allowed to see or have access to the press kit that the biased Abel's are just sitting on.

Port Chester Development Consultant Gary "I Made Over A Million At Horton School" Gianfrancesco gets away with murder, because not all media outlets get access to the Port Chester Board Of Trustees Press Kit.

The True Blue Conservative can only help inform the single family homeowners of Port Chester if Port Chester Mayor Dennis Pilla makes sure that Port Chester Village Manager and Clerk Bill Williams has press kits available at the next Port Chester Board Of Trustees Meeting for all the media outlets that wants and needs one.

10/31/07 - Port Chester Mayor Denniss Pilla Mentioned In CT Letter To The Editor

HEADLINE:

EDITORIAL:

To the editor:I am very impressed that Frank Farricker, the Democratic candidate for first selectman, is discussing the issues that affect the entire town of Greenwich.

I am gratified that Mr. Farricker has taken positive steps to address the unique problems which Byram residents encounter daily. Terrible traffic and parking on the Mill Street Bridge and Mill Street affect merchants and residents alike.

Mr. Farricker has recently met with Mayor Dennis Pilla of Port Chester to discuss these issues. Mayor Pilla welcomed Mr. Farricker and explained that in the two years he has been mayor of Port Chester, not one elected Greenwich official has ever contacted him concerning Port Chester and Byram traffic. That is truly shocking.....

10/31/07 - Dozen residents seeking Port Chester trustee slots

A dozen people, from former elected officials to political newcomers, have nominated themselves for two open seats on the village board.

10/30/07 - - All Of Westchester County Is Interested In The New And Inovative Open Call For Trustees That Was Proposed By Mayor Dennis Pillla.

HEADLINE:

QUOTE:

"We have 12 very diverse candidates in terms of their experiences," Pilla said. "I'm proud that several of these people have no prior political affiliation since I am looking forward to bringing diversity of opinion and more objectivity to the board."

STORY:

Self-nominated trustee candidates, from former elected officials to political newcomers, are expected to speak at a public meeting tonight about why they deserve to be selected for two open seats on the village board.

A dozen residents responded to an open call by Mayor Dennis Pillla for trustee candidates. The board is seeking to fill posts that became vacant after a federal judge halted the March 20 trustee election......

......Each candidate will have the opportunity to speak for up to five minutes tonight about major issues and opportunities in the village and how to address them. Candidates also may discuss their motivation to serve.

The board's goal is to appoint two new trustees at its meeting on Monday. The new trustees, who will be paid an annual salary of $5,200 each, are expected to serve until the March village election, when all seats except Pilla's and Democrat Daniel Brakewood's are set to expire.

The village is awaiting a judge's decision on whether its current at-large election method - in which trustees are elected in a village-wide vote - violates the federal Voting Rights Act. That decision will help determine whether the village can continue using its at-large system or must abandon it for one in which trustees are elected from different districts.....

COMMENT:

Of Coarse The Obnoxious Bart "The Bigot" Didden is going to be asking Mayor Dennis Pila, Deputy Mayor Dominick Cicatelli, Trustee Brakewood, Trustee Crain And Trustee Sorensen to vote for his ignorant ass even though he is a lawbreaker who operates a business out of a building with no certificate of occupancy.

Let's see if Bart "The Bigot" Didden listens to Port Chester Republican Chairman Billy Vilanova and apologizes to the Hispanic Community and Blanca Lopez, who will also be at the meeting.

The entire Port Chester Republican Committee published a letter asking for Bart "The Bigot" Didden to apologize for his two page racist flier, but the pig headed lunatic Didden refuses.

Now the insane Bart "The Bigot" Didden wants Republican trustees and a Republican Deputy Mayor to cast a vote for him.

Bart "The Bigot" Didden is like a crazy Pink EverReady Bunny that just keeps getting rejected and rejected and rejected and rejected.....

The last Rye Town Republican Financial Disclosure Report shows that the Carvin Campaign is taking Bart “The Bigot” Didden’s dirty money.

The word around Port Chester is that Bart "The Bigot" Didden has gained unusually free access to the top levels of the Carvin Campaign, due to his close friend ex- Port Chester Republican Chairman Janus "I Love A Racially Charged Campaign" Richards.

Bart "The Bigot" Didden is also gaining access to the Carvin campaign due to the fact that Didden is the Chief Pollster and a part-time columnist to the hopelessly biased rag known as the Westmore News.

Richard Abel, the publisher of the hopelessly biased rag known as the Westmore News has repeatedly defended Bart “The Bigot” Didden by saying, “It’s not against the law to be a bigot.”

Port Mayor Pilla and various Port Chester trustees have been shocked at the Westmore news publisher’s shocking remarks.

When Port Chester Deputy Mayor Dominick Cicatelli and Trustee Dan Brakewood both went on cable TV and called for Bart “The Bigot” Diiden’s resignation from the Port Chester Planning Board Guess What Happened?

Westmore News Publisher Richard Abel made it clear that his newspaper would not look favorably on having it’s chief pollster and part-time columnist sent to the Port Chester Ethic’s Board for his two page racist flier.

As of October 29th, neither the Westmore News founder, publisher or editor has condemned their part-time columnist’s racist flier that attacked Port Chester Hispanics in general and Port Chester Hispanic Activist Blanca Lopez specifically.

10/25/07 - County to Bond for $105 Million for Flooding, Legacy Program and other Capital Improvements.

Hopefully Port Chester Can Get Some Money To Cure It's Flooding Problem.

Mayor Dennis Pilla, Supervisor Robert Moribito And County Legislator Martin Rogowsky Need To Get Together And Lobby The County More Help With Our Flooding Problem.

Quote:

“The ravages of last April’s Nor’easter have made it clear that we need to act decisively to protect our communities from flooding,’’ said Spano. “Continued development and changes in weather patterns have left our communities more vulnerable than ever. Areas that never had problems before were devastated last April. Homes and businesses became uninhabitable. Some residents who could least afford it, lost everything. This is an issue that crosses municipal lines and we must focus on possible solutions together.’’ - Andy Spano

Story:

To that end, Spano held a Flood Summit last spring and appointed a Flood Mitigation Task Force to propose solutions. 10/12/07 - GOLDIE SOLOMAN, MAX RAMIREZ AND THEIR SUPPORTERS WERE RIGHT ALL ALONG.

You won’t read this in the hopelessly biased We$tmore $nooze, but…

GOLDIE SOLOMAN, MAX RAMIREZ AND THEIR SUPPORTERS WERE RIGHT ALL ALONG.

Six months ago Goldie Solomon, Max Ramirez and their single family homeowner supporters repeatedly argued that Port Chester had enough money and that Port Chester Village could cut taxes just like the Town Of Rye Has for the last two years in a row.

Deputy Port Chester Mayor Dominick Cicatelli even agreed with Goldie, Max and their supporters by saying, “I believe that it is entirely possible for the Village to cut taxes.”

According to Trustee Dan Brakewood, the Port Chester Village Manager and the professional staff under estimated revenues and expenses by about 8%, Apparently, Port Chester is sitting on over 1 million bucks of extra money that would wipe out this years Port Chester Village Property Tax increase.

When are the politicians and the professional staff going to start listening to Goldie Solomon when she says, “Cut the taxes, we can’t afford this anymore!” When are the politician’s and professional staff going to start listening to Max Ramirez, who has repeatedly said “Give the homeowners back their money,”

This extra one million dollars in tax money needs to be refunded to the single family homeowners of Port Chester immediately.

The taxes have been cut in the Town of Rye two years in a row. If we can give each single family homeowner a Port Chester Village Property Tax Rebate, then we can go after Abel’s school board buddies and try and reverse the outrageous 13% Port Chester School Tax increase.

When is the hopelessly biased rag known as the We$tmore $nooze going to expose the outrageous waste behind the
13 ½% school tax increase that is choking the single family homeowners of Port Chester.

When the Port Chester School Union members told the hopelessly biased We$tmore $nooze, that ex-Port Chester School Board President Dominick “I Did Not Edit Bart’s Racist Flyer” Bencivenga had moved out of New York State for six months and not resigned from the Port Chester School Board. The hopelessly biased We$tmore $nooze refused to report the story.

When school employees complained to the hopelessly biased We$tmore $nooze that Port Chester School Board Member Jim “Leave My Wife Alone” Dreave’s wife was illegally pressuring school employees to buy her overpriced costume jewelry while on school time and property. The hopelessly biased We$tmore $nooze refused to report that Port Chester teachers were illegally being pressured to buy Ms. Dreave’s gaudy and tasteless trinkets.

Why wont the hopelessly biased We$tmore $nooze expose the waste that is behind this years 13 ½% School tax increase.

10/10/07 - Mayor Dennis Pilla And The Port Chester Trustees Add A Third Board Meeting

HEADLINE:

10/09/07 – Meeting Notes – Port Chester Board Of Trustee Meetings.

Quote Of The Day:

“When it comes to parking you happen to understand the village Is actually a small city”

Captain John Telesca

STORY:

The new additional Board of Trustee’s Meeting got off to a very rough start.

There was a mix-up over where the meeting was being held.

No Government Cable Channel Coverage

No Agendas for the public

No press kit

Police Chief and staff were not given all the information for the parking discussion.

Worse yet the public were not allowed to participate or comment on the meeting.

Deputy Mayor Dominick Cicatelli was unable to attend the meeting even though he was out of town.

The Board discussed the

G&S Parking Proposal

Permit parking

Valet parking

Leberge Group Parking proposal

New parking laws

The Columbus Park Project – surveillance cameras

And 120,000 and 50,000 in additional funds for construction inspections and rocks.

Personally, I started to get a little bored durring the long discussion about if Port Chester would partisipate in a regional storm water utility district. I was tempted to touch Richhard "The Rye Town Drama Queen" Abel on the sholder to see if he would act like a girly man and run up and disrupt the meeting.

However, I decided not to upset Richard "The Rye Town Drama Queen" Abel, because Mayor Dennis Pilla hates it when people act crazy at his board meetings.

10/10/07 - Mayor Dennis Pilla Would Not Let Supervisor Wanna Be Joe Carvin Whine And Complain About Rye Town Cutting Taxes Two Years In A Row.

A Lonely And Isolated Supervisor Wanna Be Joe Carrvin has been upset that Rye Town has cut property taxes two years in a row. For about a year, Supervisor Wanna Be Joe Carvin has been basically repeating himself. Mr. Carvin is a disgruntled antagonist who is used to getting his way. But Mr. Carvin is entitled to his warped opinion that two years worth of tax cuts is very bad.

HEADLINE:

Port Chester Mayor Dennis Pilla Does Not Want To Hear From The Public About Items Discussed At Public Work Sessions And Richard "The Rye Town Drama Queen" Abel Does Not Get A Free Sandwich

STORY:

Five or six Port Chester Residents wanted to speak about issues concerning Port Chester at last nights Port Chester Board Of Trustee's Work Session meeting.

These Port Chester residents were disappointed that they could not speak about issues discussed at the work session.

However, there was an upside to Mayor Pilla's ban on Public comments.

Supervisor Wanna Be Joe Carvin did not get to go on like a broken record about how the Town Of Rye has done a bad job by cutting Town taxes two years in a row.

When Supervisor Wanna Be Joe Carvin found out there were not going to be any public comments or TV cameras he left the meeting.

Richard "The Rye Town Drama Queen" Abel followed Carvin out of the meeting saying “ I thought there would be comments. Apparently there not having comments tonight. There’s no television coverage anyway.”

Richard talked with Joe out in the hallway for about 10 to 15 minutes.

Richard "The Rye Town Drama Queen" Abel seemed to be disappointed that Joe Carvin did not take him to the Port Chester Coach diner for a free sandwich.

Supervisor Wanna Be Joe Carvin always takes Bernie "I Forgot To Pay Over 100 Property Tax Bills" Abel and Richard "The Rye Town Drama Queen" Abel out for a free sandwich after they act like fools on the cable TV cameras at the Rye Town Board Meetings

I think Supervisor Wanna Be Joe Carvin was pissed off that Richard "The Rye Town Drama Queen" Abel drug him out durring a thunderstorm to go to a meeting with no public coments or cable tv cameras.

10/10/07 - Why Wasn't Bob Sorensen Informed About Bruno Gioffre Bringing Another Bad Condo Project To The United Hospital Site In Port Chester

HEADLINE:

Would Someone Please Explain To Trustee Bob Sorensen That His So-Called Republican Buddies Aldo "The Patronage Boy" Vitaliano And Bruno "Spot Zone" Gioffre Want To Bring Another Massive Multi - Family Apartment Building To Port Chester

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"It was a surprise to me" - Trustee Bob Sorensen

STORY:

Even though Mayor Dennis Pilla said that there would be no public or trustee comments at the October 9th Work session, he went ahead and let the trustees make comments at the meeting.

Trustee Robert Sorensen said that he was upset that he read about the United Hospital project yesterday morning and that he already had two calls before he got to his newspaper sales job in Stamford.

Trustee Sorensen was very upset that the press had been briefed about the project before he was.

Mayor Pilla said that there had been a great deal of talk in the community about the Massive Multi - Family Condo project and that Trustee Sorensen was present during board comments about this project that will increase school taxes a few weeks ago.

Plus Mayor Pilla said that there had been a previous story in the Westmore Snooze.

COMMENT:

Doesn't Mayor Pilla realize that Trustee Bob Sorensen probably never reads the hopelessly biased We$tmore $nooze, since Richard "The Rye Town Drama Queen" Abel encouraged ex-We$tmore $nooze columnist and chief pollster Bart "The Bigot" Didden to go after his family for all those parking tickets.

Richard "The Rye Town Drama Queen" Abel sure did use a lot of space in the We$tmore $nooze to attack Trustee Sorensen and his family, because they paid a lot of money to the Village Of Port Chester for parking tickets.

Trustee Sorensen has probably heard how Richard "The Rye Town Drama Queen" Abel has bragged to scores of people about how he will never be re-elected because of all the biased stories and letters that appeared in the We$tmore $nooze.

I bet Bob Sorensen dose not read the Westmore Snooze, because they allowed Bart “The Bigot” Didden to unfairly attack his family over parking tickets in the Hopelessly Biased We$tmore $nooze.

Soon the residents of Port Chester will hopefully get the oportunity to speak at a public hearing about increasing and adding new fines in the village of Port Chester.

The village staff and the Mayor are correct when they say parking fines have not been updated often enough. It is an excelent idea to try and have the fines at least cover the cost of enforcement.

Most of the fines will go up about $5.00 a ticket.

There is also talk of a much more increasing downtown parking meters by 25 cents. This is a 50% increase over the current 50 price.

These minor changes are fiscally responsible and should help the village balance its budget.

But why should the Village stop at Parking meters.

Let's recoup all of our lost costs.

Maybe we could fine Port Chester Building Inspector Lenny Cusamano $250 for each week that he fails to shut down an illegal apartment in Port Chester.

Or, maybe we could fine Port Chester Planning Board Member Bart Didden $500 a day for everyday he occupies his Main Street offices without a certificate of occupancy.

Or better yet, maybe we could fine Port Chester Developement Consultant Gary Gianfranseco $5,000 everytime he files a change order on that bottemless money pit known as Horton School.

God Knows, Gary can easily afford it, because he has already stuffed over a million of your tax dollars in his pockets while being involved on this project.

08/09/07 - Siligato: Port Chester may set up a special tax district for sidewalks and add overdue payments onto property owners' tax bills

HEADLINE:

STORY:

The village and property owners will share the cost of repairs to shabby sidewalks under a revived and revamped sidewalk improvement program.

The Port Chester Board of Trustees recently approved borrowing $400,000 to reinstate its "Good Neighbor Sidewalk Program," which was discontinued during the 2005-06 budget year due to shoddy repairs and delinquent payments by property owners.

The new program will target areas of the village that are not considered low- to moderate-income neighborhoods, which are eligible for federal Community Block Grant money for sidewalk work, Mayor Dennis Pilla said.......

08/09/07 - Forget About Mark Weingarten And The Other G&S Lawyers

HEADLINE:

STORY:

The village is looking to hire its own lawyers to fight the long-standing eminent-domain lawsuit against businessman William Brody.

The Board of Trustees is expected to hold a special vote later this week to hire the White Plains law firm Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker as special counsel in the suit. That vote had been scheduled for Monday, but was postponed after the board failed to gather a quorum.

The seven-year suit has so far cost the village $197,000. It had been sharing lawyers and legal fees with G&S Investors, the developer of the massive shopping and entertainment complex that swallowed Brody's downtown property........

Bastianich/Batali to come to Port Chester?

By JSexton

Here's the latest. Check out EATER at http://www.westchestermagazine.com/

Cheese Boy replies....

I knew they had their eyes on that space. Many years ago, the Tarry Lodge served me up some of the best fried calamari I ever had in the county. Their quality slowly faded, unfortunately. I'm also reminded of the old Amerigo's on the county line in Byrum just up the street. Another nice memory. If Batali and Bastianich acquire that space, I hope it becomes an eatery, and not a wine shop. We'll have to just wait and see.
