03/07/11 Port Chester Roundup Can't Watch His Favorite Comedy Show
I try to watch the live feed to all of the Port Chester Board of Trustee meeting to observe and enjoy all of the stupid things that Extremist TEA Party Lunatic Bart "The Bigot" Didden and Sam "Welcome To PORK Chester" Terenzi say.The Didden and Terenzi comedy duo often has me on the floor laughing until I realize that I am going to have to pay for their stupidity in the near future.
Didden and Terenzi must be up to be up to something devious, because the feed has disappeared.
I am just so curious to find out what Didden and Terenzi are up to this month.
Last month Wing Nuts Didden and Terenzi were giving Rye Town Republican Supervisor Joe Carvin's brother a $225,000 pay day.
I guess I am going to have to walk down and watch the Board Of Trustees meeting in person.
I just can't miss my favorite comedy show.

01/24/08 - Bloggers Repond To Port Chester Voting Rights Case

Judge Stephen Robinson Discards 'One Man, One Vote' to Empower Illegal Aliens
U.S. District Judge Stephen Robinson has discarded the concept of "one man, one vote" in Port Chester, New York. According to Robinson, counting votes equally "prevents Hispanic voters from participating equally in the political process in the Village." This is because many of the Hispanics in Port Chester don't vote, since they are not American citizens but rather illegal aliens.
One proposed "remedy" is to gerrymander the town into districts:
Among other arguments, lawyers for the village said that splitting the village into districts by population would weaken the individual votes of people who lived in areas with larger proportions of registered voters. Districts that included many residents who were not citizens or registered to vote would have a much smaller number of actual voters in their overall population — hence each individual voter in that district would carry more weight in choosing his or her local trustee, they said.
Of course. The whole point is to de-emphasize the votes of people who are in the country legally. The technical term for this is "moonbattery."
On a tip from Wiggins.

01/22/08 - Port Chester Voting Rights Case - Department Of Justice Press Release

United States Department of Justice
A federal judge has ruled that the at-large system of election used by the Village of Port Chester, N.Y, to elect its trustees violates the Voting Rights Act because it discriminates against Hispanics, Grace Chung Becker, Acting Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division, and Michael J. Garcia, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced today.
• A six-district plan could be drawn for Port Chester in which Hispanics would constitute a majority of the citizen voting age population in at least one district;
• Hispanics in Port Chester voted cohesively for their candidates of choice and that these candidates of choice were routinely defeated;
• Voting in Port Chester is polarized by ethnicity;
• Hispanics in Port Chester suffered from the lingering effects of discrimination that negatively affected their ability to participate in the political process; and
• Racial appeals – in particular an anti-Hispanic flyer in the 2007 mayoral race – had marred recent political campaigns.
