10/06/07 - Westchester Legacy Project statue vandalized in Port Chester park before dedication

Westchester Legacy Project statue vandalized in Port Chester park before dedication

QUOTE:

“The idea behind the sculptures was to dress up the park.”

STORY:

PORT CHESTER - One of two statues that will be unveiled today at Columbus Park was vandalized earlier this week, village police said.

A ball from a life-size statue depicting a girl playing soccer was broken off and taken Wednesday night or early Thursday, Port Chester Lt. James Ladeairous said.

The statue of a boy that accompanied the girl at the park entrance was unharmed.

"It's a shame that it happened, and we hope that it's returned," said Thomas Hroncich, superintendent of recreation for the village.

COMMENT:

If Richard "The Drama Queen" Abel was not going around committing felonies like filing false police reports, and taking up the valuable time of at least two police lieutenants and the Chief Of Police, then maybe this vandalism would not of happened.

But Richard "The Drama Queen" Abel and his father Bernie "I Forgot To Pay Over 100 Property Tax Bills" Abel always demand and get special attention and favors from village politicians and managers who are afraid of the hopelessly biased We$tmore $nooze.

Maybe, if the Port Chester police department did not dispatch five or six cars when a True Blue Conservative Newspaper Box was being installed next to a We$tmore $nooze Newspaper Box, then maybe enough police officers would have been patrolling the parks instead of worrying about Richard "The Drama Queen" Abel and the hopelessly biased We$tmore Snooze newspaper box that was illegally placed on Haines Blvd. back in July.

Maybe, the Port Chester Police should question Richard "The Drama Queen" Abel about the vandalised statues, since Virgina Geldhart caught him monkeying with a True Blue Conservative Newspaper Box and taking all the copies of the True Conservative Review.

Virgina Geldhart complained bitterly about how her complaints about Richard ""The Drama Queen" Abel's We$tmore $nooze newspaper box were ignored by politicians and officials who were afraid of the Abel's.

You can see the Board Of Trustee's meeting where Virginia complains about Richard "The Drama Queen" Abel's We$tmore $nooze Newspaper Box and how she saw him taking copies of the True Blue Conservative Review here:

10/05/07 - Ever Since Bernie Abel Got Caught Cheating On His Property Taxes It Is The Same Ole Westmore News Crap Every Single Rye Town Election.

Same Crap Different Year

HEADLINE:

Every Rye Town Election The Republican's Call Up The New York Times, because no one in their right mind takes Bernie "I Forgot To Pay Over 100 Proprty Tax Bills" Abel and The We$tmore $nooze seriously.

PREVIOUS QUOTE OF THE DAY:

Dean P. Santon, a trustee of the Village of Rye Brook, sees it differently....

I haven't seen any evidence of any wrongdoing by the town,'' Mr. Santon said. ''Mr. Abel has been carrying on for a year, basically repeating himself. Mr. Abel is the antagonist. But he's entitled to his opinion.''

NEW YORK TIMES STORY:

.......''In 8 of the last 10 years, there hasn't been an increase in town taxes,'' Mr. Morabito said.

The Morabito and Abel families have both lived in Port Chester and known one another for generations. They had long been neighborly, as many with deep roots in this small town are. But the men began feuding last year, when Mr. Morabito initiated the tax reassessment. Besides making property taxes more equitable, the town is hoping through revaluation to avoid or at least reduce costly legal challenges to its tax assessments, Mr. Morabito said. In the last 10 years, the town has paid $18 million in tax reimbursements because of such cases, he said, and the challenges ''hurt the schools more than anybody.''

Mr. Abel, a retired Air Force fighter pilot and real estate broker, founded The Westmore News 40 years ago so that he would have a venue to express himself.

''In the daily paper, I could only write a letter,'' Mr. Abel said by telephone from his winter home in Florida. ''I was opinionated. I felt I saw injustices and I wanted to correct them. I said 'Heck, to get my point across, I think I'll start my own newspaper.'''

In the early 1980's, Mr. Abel retired from the paper. He handed the reins over to his son Richard, who is now the publisher, and Richard's wife, Jananne, now the editor. He was content, he said, to putter around the office, help with school pickups for his grandchildren and enjoy his time to himself.

But when the town government ordered the townwide property tax revaluation Mr. Abel said, he could no longer keep his opinions to himself.

''He kept going on and on about reval,'' Richard Abel said. ''I don't happen to agree with him on the subject, but I said 'Dad, if you feel so strongly about it, I'll give you a column.'''

Last fall, Bernard Abel wrote his first Town Crier column. He hasn't missed a week since.
''I started digging and I thought perhaps reval wasn't the whole story,'' Mr. Abel said. ''Perhaps the story was the type of government they were running.''

No argument, it seemed, was too big or too small for the Town Crier.

One column chastised a town board member for not fencing in his pool.

Another criticized the entire town board because a Korean War memorial, built by a veterans' organization, includes the board members' names in letters that are larger than the names of the war heroes. In the column, several board members have been accused of nepotism and unethical behavior in their private dealings with town contractors. And the column has accused the town government of bid rigging.

''You tell me who is abusing whom?'' Mr. Morabito said in a telephone conversation. ''Every week there is an article against me, against the town board or about what's bad in the town of Rye. It's been 57 weeks in a row now. It never stops.''

Mr. Morabito said he and the town board didn't respond orally or in writing to any of the columns.......

Business in the Burbs: Westchester starts subprime awareness campaign

QOUTE OF THE DAY:

"We're going to do everything we can to educate the community," said Geoffrey Anderson, executive director of Westchester Residential Opportunities. Ownership of a home is "an American dream."

"We need to keep that dream alive," he said.

STORY:

'Don't Borrow Trouble' is the theme of a campaign started yesterday in Westchester County to alert consumers to the dangers of subprime mortgages.

The subprime market provides loans for homebuyers who have less than perfect credit. The mortgages usually have adjustable interest rates, and the rates have been resetting this year to levels that are onerous for many borrowers.

The Westchester County Clerk's Office said 1,593 foreclosure actions were commenced in the county through September, an increase of 40.8 percent year over year. The number of foreclosure judgments reached 476, up 52.6 percent.

"There's not a month when somebody doesn't call my office and say, 'What can I do?' " County Clerk Timothy Idoni said at a program promoting the campaign yesterday outside the County Courthouse in White Plains.

A toll-free telephone number (877-WRO-4YOU) and a Web site (http://www.dontborrowtroublewro.org/), have been set up for county residents who are having problems keeping up with mortgage payments. Westchester Residential Opportunities of White Plains will counsel callers on their options. People who live outside the county will be referred to counselors in their area

Joe Carvin’s Campgain Is Collapsing Faster Than The Met’s Dramatic Fall From Grace.
***********************************************************************************************************
It looks like the real “facts” are coming out.

Westchester County taxes have gone up the last two years
Rye Brook Village Taxes have gone up the last two years
Blind Brook School taxes have gone up the last two years
Port Chester Village taxes have gone up the two years.
Port Chester School taxes have gone up the last two years

But the Town Of Rye Taxes have gone DOWN the last two years.

Hey, I got a real dumb idea.

Let’s get a greedy hedge fund guy to be in charge of the only government that has lowered taxes the last two years in a row.

Let’s face it the greedy hedge fund guys have done a wonderful job of destroying the mortgage and real estate markets here in the United States America.

Thank God, the Federal Reserve is using your hard earned tax dollars to bailout the reckless investments of the greedy hedge fund industry.

Do you know one of the ways Rye Town is helping lower your property taxes.

They took Bernie Abel the founder of the We$tmore $nooze to court for

UNPAID PROPERTY TAXES

Now you know why the We$tmore $nooze ran pages and pages of letters from Supervisor Wanna Be Joe Carvin, Port Chester Republican Chairman Billy Vilanova and other assorted fools like Dick “Let’s Increase School Taxes” Huebert.

09/29/07 - Port Chester Republican’s Do Not Support Supervisor Wanna Be

Port Chester Republican’s Do Not Support Supervisor Wanna Be Joe Carvin

In 2004, Joe Carvin applied to be the Port Chester Village Manager who would replace Richard “Fritz” Falanka. Joe Carvin should have been able to scoop up the job with ease.

Carvin was a Republican and Republican Mayor Gerald Logan and Six other Republican Trustees governed Port Chester. Also, Carvin was active in local politics and had strong political connections with all of the Republican Movers And Shakers. The other candidates lacked such strong connectons.

Carvin has a Harvard Degree in Public Administration and the other job candidates did not have the same prestigious degree. Plus, Carvin lived less than a mile from Port Chester and would be easily available for a village emergency, the other candidates lived very far away.

However, in 2005, Mayor Gerald Logan, Deputy Mayor Dan Colangelo, Trustee Bob Sorensen, Trustee Ken Manning, Trustee Pete Ciccone and Trustee Cicatelli decided not to hire Joe Carvin.

All Of These Main Stream Port Chester Republicans Unanimously Rejected The Hotheaded and Opportunistic Joe Carvin And His Harvard Degree.

They chose Bill Williams who did not have the local political connections or the Harvard Degree that Carvin can’t stop bragging about. Bill Williams even lived far away and might have trouble quickly responding to emergencies in Port Chester.

Why no City, Town, Village or Hamlet in America has has ever hired Joe Carvin and his fancy Harvard Degree in Public Administration to be their Manager or Administrator?

What Made Logan, Colangelo, Sorensen, Manning, Ciccione and Cicatelli not support and hire their fellow Republican Joe Carvin?

Mayor Filipowski also gave beach and Rye Brook tennis passes to Rye Brook Residents who volunteered to serve on various Rye Brook Boards.

I personally know that both beach and Rye Brook beach passes were passed out.

Anyone can go into Rye Brook Village Hall and ask Rye Brook Administrator Christopher Bradbury who helped distribute the complimentary beach and tennis passes to underprivileged and struggling South End Rye Brook Residents. Mr. Bradbury also gave the beach and Rye Brook Beach passes to Rye Brook residents who volunteered on various Rye Brook Boards.

That's why Mayor Rand says "he was told" that Mayor Filipowski didn't give out beach and Rye Brook tennis passes to underprivileged and struggling south end Rye Brook Residents. If you notice Mayor Rand does not say that Mayor Filipowski "never" gave beach and Rye Brook tennis passes to underprivileged and struggling south end Rye Brook Residents.

The only reason that underprivileged and struggling south end Rye Brook residents are not going to have access to beach and Rye Brook Tennis passes is that Rye Brook Bernie "I Forgot To Pay Over 100 Property Tax Bills" Abel came to Rye Brook Board Meetings with his son Richard "The Drama Queen" Abel and scared the hell out of Mayor Rand.

09/28/07 - Port Chester Republican Chhairman Billy Villanova Is Having A Fit Because The NY State Controller Failed To Send Him A 2006 Form Letter.

If You Are Having Trouble Sleeping Then Try Reading Port Chester Republican Chairman Billy Villanova's Full Page Letter To The Editor, AKA "The Hissy Fit" .
Of Coarse Port Chester Republican Chairman Billy Vilanova's Hissy Fit Of A Letter Takes Up Almost A Full Page Of The Hopelessly Biased Rag Known As The Westmore Snooze.

Whatever happened to the Westmore Snooze's policy of editing long verbose and boring letters to the editor.

I thought letters to the editor were supposed to be about 250 words or less.

I guess that rule only applies to Democrats who send letters to the hopelessly biased rag known as the Westmore Snooze.

I must admit I tried to read all Of Port Chester Republican Chairman Billy Villanova's letter, but I started to get a headache and had to laydown and rest my eyes.

From what I understood of Port Chester Republican Billy Villanova's diatribe is that he is mad that New York State Controller Thomas P. DiNappoli failed to send him a routine form letter back in 2006, and he wanted to use that form letter to comment about a state audit.

I really think it is unfair of Port Chester Republican Chairman Billy Vilanova to blame the State Controller Thomas P. DiNappoli, because he did not get a routine form letter way back in 2006.

Port Chester Republican Chairman Billy Villanova should understand that the The U.S. Postal Service handles more than 40 percent of the world’s mail volume. The United States Postal Service sorted and delivered nearly 212 billion pieces of mail last year. That's about 680 million pieces a day.
Plus each Port Chester letter carrier delivers more than 43 tons of mail per year, averaging more than 2,300 letters, cards, magazines and circulars per day.

Port Chester Republican Chairman Billy Villanova probably is unaware that The United States Postal Service delivers more items in one day than Federal Express does in a year and more items in one week than United Parcel Service does in a year.

Port Chester Republican Chairman Billy Villanova should realize that The number of delivery points (households and businesses) served by the Postal Service grows by 5,900 every delivery day — some 1.8 million addresses a year. In fact,
The Postal Service delivers to 143 million businesses and households each day, six days per week. UPS delivers to 7 million addresses daily while FedEx serves even fewer.

I really think it is unfair for Port Chester Republican Chairman Billy Villanova to get his knickers all in a bind, because he did not get a routine form letter from Mr. DiNappoli way back in 2006.

Maybe Mr. DiNappoli should have sent Port Chester Republican Chairman Billy Villanova the routine form letter by certified or registered mail. Or Maybe, Mr. Dinappoli should have called up Billy and said," Billy I just want to make sure that you got that routine form letter I sent you."

Maybe if Port Chester Republican Chairman Billy Villanova had called the Port Chester Postmaster way back in 2006, then the Postmaster could have maybe tracked down the routine form letter.

But unfortunately, Port Chester Republican Chairman Billy Villanova waited a for year and 212 Billion pieces of mail latter to complain about not getting his routine form letter.

Maybe, Port Chester Republican Chairman Billy Vilanova wanted to wait till election time to have a little hissy fit about not getting a routine 2006 form letter.

I mean if Port Chester Republican Chairman Billy Villanova wanted to send comments to Thomas P. DiNappoli why doesn't he send Mr. DiNappoli a letter at...

State Comptroller, 110 State Street, Albany, NY 12236

Or maybe Port Chester Republican Chairman Billy Villanova could call Mr. DiNappoli at 518-474-4044.

Or maybe Port Chester Republican Chairman Billy Villanova can Email Mr. DiNappoli at osdc@osc.state.ny.us .
Or would Port Chester Republican Chairman Billy Vilanova like me to get him the fax number for Mr. Dinapoli.
To tell you the truth I would be willing to drive up to Albany and hand deliver Port Chester Republican Chairman Billy Vilanova's routine form letter to Mr. DiNapolii if he would stop whinning about this 2006 routine form letter.
Port Chester Republican Chairman Billy Villanova just won't stop whinning about this 2006 routine form letter.
But why does Port Chester Republican Chairman Billy Villlanova write page after page after page after page after page after page after page of complaints to the hopelessly biased Westmore Snooze.

I can guarantee Port Chester Republican Chairman Billy Villanova that Thomas P. DiNapolli does not read the hopelessly biased rag that was founded by Bernie "I Forgot To Pay Over 100 Tax Bills" Abel

Anyway, if you are having trouble sleeping then please read this full page letter where Port Chester Republican Chairman Billy Villanova whines that he did not get a routine form letter from Mr. DiNapploi.

09-28-07 The Rye Town Report Is Wrong

It Is Not True That Rye Brook Taxes Have Went Down 1.5% This Year.

Rye Brook Taxes Have Actually Went Up Year After Year After Year.

This Year Rye Brook Taxes Have Gone Up 2% This Year Alone.

The Only Local Governmental That Has Reduced Taxes Two Years In A Row Is The Town Of Rye.

The Village Of Port Chester, The Village Of Rye Brook and The Schools have all failed to reduce taxes like the Town Of Rye.

Unfortunately, The Village Of Rye Brook has not had a full blown New York State Comptroller's audit since the 1990's.

The Office of the State Comptroller needs to audit the Village Of Rye Brook.

A State Controller Audit help ensure that Rye Brook funds are used efficiently, and assets are adequately protected against fraud, waste and abuse.

Year after year after year Rye Brook's own internal auditors have repeatedly said, "We can not express an opinion on the effectiveness of the village's internal control over financial reporting. Accordingly, we express no such opinion."

This reporter has personally set at Rye Town Board Meetings and repeatedly overheard Joe Carvin, Janus Richards, Sam Terenzi, Bernie and Richard Abel comment about Rye Brook Mayor Lawrence Rand and the whether Rye Brook is operating economically or efficiently. They even have speculated on if Rye Brook has complied with all the laws of New York State.

I have also heard Joe Carvin, Janus Richards, Sam Terenzi, Bernie and Richard Abel speculate on if Rye Brook has inefficiencies of uneconomical practices.
I have often said that it not is said at government meetings while the cameras are on that is not very interesting. It is what is said before and after government meetings when the cameras are turned off.
You can really hear an ear full after Rye Town Board Meetings when Joe Carvin, Janus Richards and Sam Terenzi get ready to take Port Chester Republican Billy Vilanova and the disgruntled founder and the publisher of the Westmore News to the Port Chester Coach Diner to talk about hogwash the Abels will print in their hopelessly biased newspaper.
However, I must say all this political chatter from Joe Carvin and his disgruntled band of close advisers concerns me, because let's face it Joe Carvin often tries to present himself as some sort of wanna be expert on government audits.

Yes it is true that it is kind of spooky how Joe Carvin has became sort of a magnet for disgruntled and sleazy opportunists with checkered pasts.

Yes it is also true that most intelligent thinking persons just ignore the Bernie Abels and Sam Terenzis of this world.

Further, I argue that it is better to be safe than sorry.

Let's face it a lot of elections in Rye Brook go uncontested election cycle after election cycle after election cycle.

Rye Brook Government has sort of turned into an Old Girl's Club, where local politicians try to keep each other's skirts down.

Please join Joe Carvin, Janus Richards, Sam Terenzi, Bernie Abel, Richard Abel and I as we demand that Rye Brook to submit to a full blown State Controller's Audit.

It is time for Rye Brook submit to a State Controller's Audit just like Port Chester, Rye City and Rye Town have.

If I have heard Rye Brook resident Dick Hubert say it once I have heard him say it a thousand times....

"We need financial transparency at all levels of government."

Please call state Controller Thomas P. DiNapolli at 518-474-4044 and demand that he audit the Village Of Rye Brook immediately.

It is fiscally irresponsible for the Village Of Rye Brook not to have been audited by the State Controller's office since the 1990's.

You can also email State Controller Thomas P. DiNappoli at osdc@osc.state.ny.us to demand ask him why there has been no state audit of Rye Brook since the 1990's.

It looks like State Controller Thomas P. DiNappoli is asleep at the switch when it comes to providing the residents of Rye Brook with financial transparency.
