04/24/11 PORT CHESTER TAXPAYERS GET STUCK WITH A $225,000 BILL AS THE REPUBLICAN PATRONAGE MILL ROLLS ON AND ON AND ON .....

Why Are We Paying This Guy $775 Per Hour?

Rye Town Supervisor Joesph Carvin's Brother Looks Like A High Paid Legal Moron; As He Gets Slammed In Federal Court

Earning His $775 An Hour: Republican Michael Carvin is pressing forward with a Port Chester voting rights appeal, even though a federal judge says he can't

A federal judge has told Republican Rye Town Supervisor Joe Carvin's brother that he has no right to appeal the Justice Department's successful voting rights lawsuit against Port Chester — but apparently, that won't stop Micheal Carvin from trying.

A clueless Michael Carvin seems to be unaware that the Village of Port Chester signed a consent decree barring the old system and ushering in a new, cumulative-voting method.

Judge Gardephe wrote that Port Chester has no basis to appeal because of its own action.

"The law is clear that matters within the scope of a consent decree or consent judgment can generally not be appealed," Judge Gardephe told Michael Carvin

The Port Chester Booard Of Trustees The Board of Trustees has been sharply divided over the appeal and the $225,000 set aside for Republican Micheal Carvin.

Port Chester Mayor Dennis Pilla said he would try again to halt what he calls a losing battle.

"If the judge's ruling doesn't make it clear how small our chances of success are, then I don't know what does. It's a waste of time, it's a waste of money.", said Mayor Pilla

Despite public opposition to the expense, the board Republican dominated board of trustees voted 4-2 in February to hire attorney Michael Carvin of the Jones Day law firm at fees of up to $775 an hour.

Michael "I Can't Believe The Fools In Port Chester Want To Give Me $225,00 To Lose" Carvin is the brother of Republican Rye Town Supervisor Joseph Carvin.
The only question is whether Port Chester Republicans like Sam Terenzi will recognize the futility of the expensive taxpayer funded road that they're on.

News Reports About Port Chester, NY
Port Chester trustees decline to cut their salaries from budget
The Journal News | LoHud.com
PORT CHESTER —
The village board passed up a small but symbolic way to trim the budget next year: eliminating their own pay.
Trustee Daniel Brakewood pressed fellow trustees and the mayor Wednesday night to take their salaries out of the 2011-12 budget for a total savings of about $44,000.
"Why is this board paid?" he asked, noting that school board members and neighboring Rye Brook village trustees are unpaid. Port Chester trustees earn $5,200 a year; the mayor gets $12,633.
Mayor Dennis Pilla agreed, but the majority balked at setting a public hearing on such a change. Trustees Sam Terenzi and John Branca said each politician could decide whether to donate their pay to charity if they chose. Trustees Joseph Kenner and Luis Marino also voted against the hearing. Trustee Bart Didden was absent.
Terenzi, an accountant, and Didden have said they aren't collecting a salary this year anyway because they haven't filed paperwork as village employees since being elected in June. Terenzi said he didn't want to force others to forgo their pay.
The board is considering ways to trim a proposed $36.2 million budget and 3.72 percent tax-levy increase drafted by Village Manager Christopher Russo. ...
