Since the shutdown of a strip club in 2002, the village hasn't touched adult establishments with a 10-foot pole.




"If you look back at the history, the village has had a moratorium on this five times," Port Chester Mayor Dennis Pilla said. "Each time, no action was taken. Right now we're vulnerable because our laws are flawed to prevent one from coming back again."




After a public hearing Jan. 28, the village Board of Trustees is to vote on extending its moratorium on adult establishments once again. "We're being proactive to fix something broken," Pilla said. "This is a very sensitive issue to the community."




The Diamond Club, once a strip club on Midland Avenue, was a lightning rod for controversy for more than nine years before it closed in 2002. The village shut down the operation in court after charging that it was a health hazard and a public nuisance....

KENT - Town police charged a 29-year-old Dutchess County man with felony driving while intoxicated after traffic stop on Ludingtonville Road, police said today.




Wilder Guerra of Blueberry Lane, Stormville, was also charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a felony, after Officer Raymond Beauchesne pulled him over Saturday at 1:12 a.m., police said.




Guerra was also charged with false personation, a misdemeanor, being an unlicensed operator and failing to yield the right of way on a left turn, violations. Police said that he give a false name throughout the booking process....



... that police learned Guerra's true identity. Police also learned of warrants for his arrest from the village of Port Chester. He was ordered to appear Feb. 12 in town court...
