From the Office of Assemblyman George Latimer
New York State’s Taxation Department – as a cost-savings measure – has stopped the past practice of mailing out a packet of State taxation materials to every taxpayer, requiring individuals to go to their local library or on-line to get the necessary forms. Now, along the Sound Shore for the second straight year, there’s another way to get 2009 state tax forms: contacting State Assemblyman George Latimer (D-91st A.D.).
The added advantage: the Assemblyman will have the forms delivered to your residence if you can’t pick them up at his District Office in Mamaroneck.
“The April 15th tax deadline approaches faster than we realize it,” noted Assemblyman Latimer, “and for many who have home computers, it is very easy to access New York State tax forms on line at www.tax.state.ny.us. The five local libraries in our region are swamped by requests as well. So, once again, we want to make it easier for the individual, particularly seniors and the disabled. Contact my office at 777-3832, and we’ll deliver the necessary forms to your front door during the month of March.”
Latimer’s office is at 933 Mamaroneck Avenue, Room 102, in the Village of Mamaroneck – close to the New England Thruway exit. Residents may call his office to request basic forms, which will be dropped off at the residence location. In cases where delivery is difficult – locked apartment buildings, gated communities – special arrangements can be made.
“Government should be about service to the people. It is understandable that the state needs to save money on printing and postage — but we’ll pick up the slack where we can,” Latimer concluded. The service will end on Saturday, April 2nd.
Residents of Latimer’s Assembly District – Larchmont, Mamaroneck, Rye, Port Chester, Rye Brook and part of New Rochelle, are eligible to use the service.
