More than two dozen residents joined friends, family and colleagues of Dennis Pilla as the mayor was sworn in for his third term on Tuesday night at Port Chester's Senior Center.
Pilla gave a brief speech after the ceremony, outlining priorities – many of them fiscal – for this year and the next.
Standing in the same room that will be the site of upcoming public forums on the proposed budget, the mayor called for a long-view approach and a strategy of assembling a non-civil service, "flexible" workforce around the village's core of professional staff.

Trustee Dan Brakewood stood on a chair inside Chavin Restaurant, hammering the wood divider in front of him for emphasis as he shouted to be heard above the crowd.
"...to our next mayor," Brakewood said, "Dennis Pilla!"
And he was drowned out by the cheers of the incumbent mayor's supporters, who broke out into an impromptu chant of "Dennis! Dennis! Dennis!" as Pilla was mobbed by well-wishers.
That was the scene Tuesday night, as Pilla's campaign set up shop in the Peruvian eatery and supporters packed in to await the results.
