On March 5 at 3:09 a.m., Ptl. Vincent Scillieri observed a vehicle traveling in the far left lane of Route 46 East at a slow speed and left turn signal remained on. Scillieri activated his emergency lights and siren, but the driver refused to pull over. The officer continued to follow the vehicle, which came to a stop near theClifton border.
When speaking to the driver, Zoila G. Pineda, 55, of Port Chester, N.Y., the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol. Field sobriety tests were conducted and Pineda was arrested on charges of the driving while intoxicated. She was transported to headquarters where she was also charged with refusing to provide breath samples. She was also issued summonses for failure to change address, delaying traffic, failure to stop for emergency vehicle, careless driving, unsafe lane change and failure to maintain lane.
