Jackie Wildau, left, Melissa Aversa, Gina and Nicholas Romano at the Romanos' store, The Costume Closet in Port Chester, which they all help to keep running during the busy Halloween season. The shop provides costumes for plays, musicals, parties and other occasions year round.

PORT CHESTER - With her thousands of custom-made costumes, Gina Romano can recreate the likeness of a pirate, Elvis Presley or Marilyn Monroe.

Tucked away in a compact second-story shop on North Main Street in Port Chester, Romano's mom-and-pop business, The Costume Closet, provides wardrobes for school plays, community theaters and corporate events.

This time of year, trick-or-treaters and Halloween party-goers also comb Romano's overstuffed racks for hand-sewn costumes, masks and wigs. The shop is normally open by appointment only, but it keeps special Halloween hours in the fall.

10/13/07 - What The Hell Is A Matter With These Port Chester Teachers.

School Union Members Say That School Taxes Have Went Up 13 1/2 %, Because The We$tmore $nooze Ignores Their Complaints And Covers Up Wrong Doings On The School Board.

Ever Since Rye Town Took Bernie "I Forgot To Pay Over 100 Property Tax Bills" Abel To Court For Failing To Pay All Of His Tax Bill, The We$tmore $nooze Has Refused To Fully Report That Rye Town Has Lowered Taxes Two Years In A Row While The Port Chester Schools Have Increased Taxes 13 1/2%.

The neglected Port Chester Teachers who are still working without a contract say that they told Bernie "I Forgot To Pay Over 100 Property Tax Bills" Abel and Richard "The Rye Town Drama Queen" Abel (AKA Notorious Newspaper Theif) all about the wrong doings listed in Dominic "I Did Not Edit The Racist Flier" Bencivenga Link #1 and Dominic "I Did Not Edit The Racist Flier" Bencivenga Link #2, but the Abel refused to report on the illegal abuses occurring in the school system.

The Abel's Just Wanted To Cover Up For Their Republican Friends At The School Board.
Don't The Port Chester Teachers Know That The Abel's Only Want To Help People Like Port Chester Republican Chairman Billy Vilanova.
The Abel's Have Filled The We$tmore $nooze With page after boring page about how Port Chester Republican Chairman Billy Vilanova is upset that he did not get a routine form letter.

The teachers even told the Abel's that ex-Port Chester School President Dominick "I Did Not Edit Thr Racist Flier" Bencivenga voted a substaintial raise to Athletic Director Joesph Durney without revealing to the public that Mr. Durney employed his wife.

Jim "Don't Mess With My Wife" Dreaves and the other school board members just looked the other way and the tax payers got the 13 1/2% increase.

The teachers also told the We$tmore $nooze that ex-Port Chester Board President Dominick "I Did Not Edit The Racist Flier" Bencivenga's sister in law is given special privaleges that no other Port Chester School employee gets.

The teachers also belive that these special privlages help increase school taxes.

Some of the Port Chester teachers say that the hopelessly biased We$tmore $nooze Dosen't support the children of Port Chester, because the Abel's look the other way as the teachers are forced to work with out a contract.

Well, Duh, Of Coarce The Founder Of The We$tmore $nooze Doesn't Care About The Teachers Or The Children Of Port Chester, Otherwise He Would Not Have "Forgotten" To Pay Over 100 Property And School Tax Bills.

What The Hell Is The Matter With These Port Chester Teachers.

What The Hell Is The Matter With These Port Chester Teachers.

Don't they read the hopelessly biased We$tmore $nooze. Bernie "I Forgot To Pay Over 100 Property Tax Bills" Abel and Richard "The Rye Town Drama Queen" Abel (AKA Notorious Newspaper Theif) don't want to fairly cover the Port Chester Teacher's Contract, because they are too busy with thier vendetta agaist the evil Town Of Rye that cut Property taxes two years in a row.

What The Hell Is The Matter With These Port Chester Teachers.

Can't they go back and look at the last 52 weeks of the hopelessly biased We$tmore $nooze and look and see if you can find an article about the Port Chester Teachers working with out a contract or about the outrageous 13 1/2% school tax increase. Surely there is at least 1 article in between the hundreds of Rye Town Vendetta pages.

Can't they go back and read the last 1oo of Bernie "I Forgot To Pay Over 100 Property Tax Bills" Abel's "Town Liar" column in the hopelessly biased We$tmore $nooze, and see that not one word was mentioned about the teachers contract or the outrageous 13 1/2% School Tax Increase.

and cancelling their subscriptions to the hopelessly biased We$tmore $nooze.

I am going to politely ask the hard working and caring teachers of Port Chester not to call me and tell me how many spelling or grammer errors are in this article.

10/12/07 - Keepin Up With The Jones. Greenwich Rasises Parking Fees 10% In Order To Keep Up With Port Chester.

The Board of Selectmen voted 2-1 yesterday to increase parking permit fees by 10 percent at train station and municipal lots throughout town.

The new rates would take effect next October at a total of 11 lots, and would generate approximately $147,000 in additional revenue each year for Greenwich's parking fund, according to figures provided by Alan Corry, the town parking services director. The increases will affect parking permits, not parking meters.

First Selectman Jim Lash said the increase will help replenish the parking fund for maintenance at structures, such as the Town Hall garage, which is undergoing more than $400,000 in construction now.

'My concern continues to be that we need money to spend on our parking facilities,' Lash said.
The changes will see annual fees at nine lots, including all outdoor railroad parking lots, increase from $242 to $266. Those include Arcadia Road, Carrona Drive, Horseneck Lane, Iron Horse Lane, Steamboat Road/Arch Street, Loughlin Avenue and Riverside, Old Greenwich and Cos Cob railroad stations. Rates at the covered parking garage downtown will rise from $423 to $465 per year, and at the West End lot in Old Greenwich from $165 to $181 per year.

Selectman Penny Monahan opposed the measure, saying Greenwich's parking permit rates are in line with those in towns such as Darien, Westport and Rye, N.Y. But Lash and Selectman Peter Crumbine said the rates are far lower than those in neighboring towns such as Stamford and Rye. In Stamford, annual parking permits can cost more than $1,000, outdoor parking permits cost $505 per year in Port Chester, according to Corry.

'I'm always reluctant to characterize other people's spending as moderate, but this (the new rates) wouldn't be out of line with the two adjacent towns,' Lash said.....
