03/02/11 Port Chester Robbery Suspect Outed Friend During Interview

Click To Enlarge Photo: Dominick Glowacki, 27, is accused of robbing a CVS pharmacy in Greenwich on Feb. 13th

A Port Chester man nabbed minutes after he robbed a CVS pharmacy on Greenwich Avenue later connected his friend to a separate robbery that occurred two days earlier, according to court records.

Dominick Glowacki, 27, of 363 Wilett Ave., Port Chester, N.Y., voluntarily agreed to speak with police after he was caught while fleeing on Greenwich Avenue and ordered to the ground at gunpoint.

Glowacki, who was found with 924 OxyContin pills and a BB gun, told police he was a drug addict who had been unemployed for several years. He said that on the morning of the robbery, which occurred Feb. 13, he woke up hung over from "heroin, cocaine and alcohol," according to court documents.

"I stole my friend's Airsoft pistol with intentions to steal narcotics to get high at CVS on Greenwich Avenue," Glowacki said in a signed and sworn statement provided to police.
Glowacki said he stressed that no one would get hurt when committing the robbery, according an arrest warrant, which outlines the interview.

When police asked Glowacki about other robberies, he denied any involvement. Then, after thinking about it for a moment, he asked if the interviewers were referring "to the Subway robbery," according to the warrant.

Glowacki told police he came to Greenwich over the weekend to visit his friend, Brian Steed, 37, of 12 W. Putnam Ave.

During the visit, Glowacki said Steed implied he may have done something on Feb. 11. After pressing him, Glowacki said Steed admitted to robbing a Subway Restaurant and showed Glowacki the $260 he made off with. Steed told Glowacki he slammed the gun down on the counter to get the employee's attention during the robbery, according to the warrant.

Police said Steed allegedly ordered a sandwich before robbing the female employee, who was alone in the store. No one was injured in either of the two robberies.

During the investigation, police also determined that the two men, acting separately, used the same green hooded sweatshirt and a BB gun made to look like a real firearm to rob the CVS and Subway.

Police obtained a picture of Steed shortly after Glowacki's interview, and the Subway employee was able to positively identify Steed as the suspect. Steed was taken into custody at his home by warrant, which is a few blocks from Greenwich Avenue. Glowacki and Steed are charged with first-degree robbery. They each remain held on a $100,000 bond.

Both are scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford March. 3.

10/31/07 - Port Chester police search for liquor store armed robbers.

Police are seeking two men, and possibly a third, who robbed the Varmax Liquor Pantry wearing skull masks and carrying a shotgun.

Police said today that two masked and gloved men burst into the 16 Putnam Ave. store at 9:58 p.m. Saturday dressed in black hoodies and blue jeans and ordered the four employees inside onto the floor. One wore black and white sneakers, police said.

Only one of the store's four registers was unlocked and the men stole an unspecified sum from it. Nothing was taken from the four individuals, Ladeairous said.

A third similarly masked person may have been a lookout outside the store, he said.

The men fled on foot eastbound on Putnam Avenue.
