Police continue to search for Byram burglar
STORY:
Police searched late Thursday night for a burglar who broke into an apartment at a town housing complex in Byram police said.
Around 11 p.m., a resident called police after returning home, saying that an intruder was in her ground-floor apartment at 77 Vinci Drive, Lt. Daniel Allen, a police department spokesman said.
The victim did not see the intruder, who fled the apartment through a rear window before police arrived, Allen said.
Patrol officers searched the neighborhood and called in a police search dog from the Harrison, N.Y., police department, but did not find the burglar, Allen said.
There have been no other reported burglaries in the Byram area this month, Allen said.
It was undetermined if any property was stolen, said Allen, who declined to release additional details about the burglary. The Criminal Investigations Division is handling the case, according to Allen.
The building is one of three managed by the Housing Authority of the Town of Greenwich, Terry Mardula, deputy director of the housing authority, said.
In July police arrested a Port Chester man who allegedly broke into a Byram home where a family was sleeping. The homeowner was awakened by noises in the house, and confronted the prowler, who was in his basement.
A short time later, police found the man in front of Johnny Cakes, a 24-hour diner in Byram, where the homeowner identified him.
That man, Cesar H. DeSouza, 20, of 218 Cleveland St., Port Chester, was charged with second-degree burglary and is scheduled to appear next in state Superior Court in Stamford on Sept. 25, according to the Criminal Clerk's Office.........
