Like compact discs in the age of downloading music, Vaudeville lingered on stages for several years after its heyday.

Greenwich Academy sends letters to soldiers

Stamford Advocate

Greenwich Academy students and faculty wrote more than 200 holiday notes to soldiers overseas. Organized by community service volunteers, the letters with words of thanks and encouragement were sent to Fort Campbell, Ky., and included stockings filled with items such as DVDs, snacks, toiletries and books. The packages were distributed to the 101st Airborne Division 3-187 Infantry Battalion serving in Iraq.

Younger Greenwich Academy students participated in the Lower School Mitten Tree. Mittens, scarves and hats that were brought to school decorate a tree until January, when some of the girls will wrap and deliver the items to the Port Chester Head Start & Therapeutic Nursery and the program at the Port Chester Children's Place. The field trip to New York also offers each girl an opportunity to connect one-on-one with a young child in the program as they spend time sharing stories and reading books together.....

10/15/07 - The Pride Of Port Chester Keeps On Marching. Band Members Perform For 1,000 Spectators In Ryan Stadium

STORY:

Rafael Garcia was a tad nervous yesterday, but didn't have the jitters he felt the week before when the Port Chester High School marching band performed at Giants Stadium.

"This is much calmer," the 17-year-old tuba player said of yesterday's 25th annual Musical Arts Conference competition at Port Chester High School.

"The sound is so much bigger in Giants Stadium," Garcia said, looking crisp in his navy blue uniform. "With the 10-foot wall we had to play over, we had to keep our horns up."

There were no walls to muffle the sound at the high school's football field. Eleven New York and Connecticut marching bands, including the Port Chester Middle School Band, provided energetic and colorful performances to about 1,000 spectators filling the stands.

...Holding their trophy, the Port Chester band leaders explained that preparation begins in Band Camp, where all the members work intensely for two weeks before school starts and grow close.
"We consider ourselves a family," said Kimberly Irwin, the band's drum major.

Their hard work has paid off. Senior Madeline Rende, the band's other co-president, recalled that the entire band was invited to play in the movie "Spider-Man 3."

"We played when he got the keys to the city," she said....

08/12/07 - Port Chester's Very Own "Not Ready For Prime Time Players"

HEADLINE:

STORY:

One early August morning, three insane girls were joking around about their favorite movie, Zodiac, based on the serial killer of the 1960's in the Bay Area. Ashley and Melissa dubbed Zalex, whom had just come back from San Francisco the Zodiac killer. They decided to make a mini remake of the movie for fun. The next day, Zalex put it onto her iMacala, edited it, put in the outtakes, and posted it onto Youtube.

THIS MOVIE IS MADE FOR THE PURPOSE OF OUR ENTERTAINMENT (and anybody else's). YOU MAY SAY "LOLZ, LOOK AT THESE IDIOTS!" AMONGST YOU AND YOUR REAL OR IMAGINARY FRIENDS
