Little Feat and Leon Russell at The Capitol Theatre: 8 p.m.

Doors for all shows open at 6:30 p.m. and music begins at 8 p.m.

The Capitol Theatre, 149 Westchester Ave., Port Chester.

Peter Shapiro, the Capitol Theatre's new owner, has pumped more people and energy into Port Chester’s downtown since the re-launch with Bob Dylan’s show and state-of-the-art sound and lighting equipment.

The Capitol is moving ahead with plans to open an adjoining bar that would operate even on non-concert nights. The venue plans about 140 shows a year.

The Capitol began as a vaudeville theater in 1926 and evolved from a movie house to a rock venue to a catering hall and now back to a rock venue.

Another old theater in Port Chester, the Embassy, has also changed hands. The theater was built by the Rogowski family and opened within days of the Capitol. It was designed by the same architect, Thomas Lamb, but has fallen into disrepair.

A partnership acquired the building from the Rogowskis in September for $520,000, according to land records, but has not announced a plan. Travis Sluss, a music promoter is involved in this project.

Downtown Port Chester is slowly, but surely improving one project at a time.

There is a lot of potential in Port Chester.

Destiny of 2 towns lies in tiny Rye Neck

But, But, But, Port Chester Residents MIGHT Be Able To Save $25 on a $500,000 property if everything they have been told is true....

Destiny of 2 towns lies in tiny Rye Neck

It all comes down to Rye Neck. Described as everything from an orphan to a crucial part of the puzzle, the 1-square-mile section of the Village of
Mamaroneck could decide the fate of the Town of Rye.....

In one of the most complicated municipal configurations around, Rye Neck constitutes one-third of the Village of Mamaroneck. However, it is also part of the Town of Rye, but is cut off from Port Chester and Rye Brook, the two contiguous villages that make up the rest of the town....

....“It’s an absurd idea,” said Valerie O’Keeffe, the former Mamaroneck supervisor. “We want to dissolve villages into a town, not the other way around.”....

...However, the tax rate in the remaining part of the Town of Mamaroneck would rise by 42 percent, as a result of losing its village tax base....

....Former Mamaroneck village Trustee John Hofstetter called the CGR study “incomplete.”

“It does not fully explore all the options for the village. The best option would be to merge the Town of Mamaroneck with the villages of Mamaroneck and Larchmont,” Hofstetter said. “The idea is to get rid of a layer of government, not carve more municipalities into smaller ones.”

Rye Town Supervisor Joe Carvin said he lacked the support of the Port Chester, Rye Brook and Mamaroneck mayors....

....n Rye Brook, which would have to create a court function, a house of that value would see $22 in costs, for a net $3 annual savings....

“Mr. Carvin is wasting money with the study,” O’Keeffe said.
