The message that dangerous, recently recalled toys need to be pulled from store shelves apparently didn't get through to some local retailers.
Inspectors from the Westchester Consumer Protection and Health departments visited 20 retailers yesterday and reported that tainted toys still were being sold at four stores in the county: KB Toys on Central Park Avenue in Yonkers, CVS in Peekskill and Kohl's stores in Port Chester and Yonkers.
"These are reputable stores, and they should be getting these items off the shelves," County Executive Andrew Spano said. "They should be aware of this by now. That's what's so astonishing. If it was some mom-and-pop operation, you could excuse it. But these are major stores.".......
