Leonard Cusumano was the Chief Building/Plumbing Inspector of Port Chester, as well as, a dedicated family man and a lifelong Port Chester resident who volunteered in the community.
Chief Inspector Leonard Cusumano headed the Port Chester's Building Department, at 110 Willett Ave, and later at 222 Grace Church Street. Mr. Cusumano headed a staff of five that assisted Port Chester Property owners and developers determine whether they needed to receive any special permits for building projects.
Much of Mr. Cusumano's work boiled down to helping people win approval for projects by making sure plans confirm to government regulations.
Residential Projects that commonly require permits include swimming pools, decks and sheds.
Mr. Cusamano and his staff were responsible for helping landlords and tenants:
Relocate within the village.
Renovate their building.
Demolish all or part of the building.
Receive certificates of occupancy.
Correct housing code violations
Mr. Cusumano was a very active parisioner at Corpus Christi Catholic Church on South Regent Street in Port Chester
