Student-made blankets given to nursing home

A group of Rye Country Day School students recently visited the Port Chester Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre to present residents with 55 lap blankets made by the students. The blankets were the result of the students' involvement in Project Linus, a nonprofit organization that makes handmade blankets and quilts for children and adults in need.

The blankets, made specifically for wheelchair-bound residents at the center, were designed by students Rachel Groh and Caroline Segal. Goodie bags assembled by the students were also handed out to the residents, with a card decorated by fifth- and sixth-grade students. The Sno Cone Baritones, an Upper School barbershop quartet, also sang.
