The state Department of Transportation yesterday announced the opening of a community outreach center at 660 White Plains Road in Tarrytown. It's intended to encourage public participation in the Tappan Zee Bridge/I-287 Corridor Environmental Review. Open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., it replaces the outreach center that was in the Thruway maintenance facility at 333 South Broadway in Tarrytown. It will function as a meeting site and give the public a chance to ask questions, comment on the project and review project documents. The phone number is 914-358-0603.
NYSDOT, the lead agency for the study, is working with Metro-North Railroad and the State Thruway authorities, as well as the Federal Highway and Transit administrations. They are studying how to address the needs of the Tappan Zee Bridge and traffic within the 30-mile I-287 corridor between Suffern and Port Chester, authorities said.
