A dozen people fled a Westchester Avenue post office, believing a man inside had a gun.
Police said 55-year-old Konrad Maslarz, clad in a black winter hat and black mechanic's-type jumpsuit, was in line at the 245 Westchester Ave. office just before 1 p.m. Wednesday. Police said Maslarz, speaking to no one in particular, said he had a gun in his pocket - a Glock, to be specific.
Overhearing him, a woman discreetly cut to the front of the line to tell a clerk, police said. The clerks immediately shut their windows and the public ran out, leaving Maslarz behind.
