Weigh in on Proposed Budget: Trustees to Hear from Public at Monday Meeting

imageThe public will get a chance to provide feedback on the proposed $36 million budget.


Port Chester residents will get a chance to weigh in on the village's tentative budget when the Board of Trustees meets on Monday.
An early draft of the 2011-2012 budget calls for an increase of $1,271,870, a 3.64 percent rise over last year's budget of more than $34 million.
The coming year's total could rise to $36,234,359 if the tentative budget is passed without modifications; taxpayers would have to make up most of the gap, with a tax levy increase of 3.72 percent.
That means taxpayers in Port Chester could fork over an additional $863,475, covering the majority of the more than $1.2 million increase.....

    A Port Chester restaurant owner was ticketed Thursday night for selling beer to a detective despite the lack of a liquor license, Port Chester police said.
    The detective walked into Bambu Restuarant and Nightclub at 30 Broad St. at 7 p.m. and sat down to have dinner. After the detective ordered food, a waitress approached and asked him if he wanted a beer. The detective said yes, and the waitress brought him a Budweiser, despite the restaurant's lack of a liquor license and absence of any visible beer or hard alcohol.
    Police say they checked in with the owner, Alejandro Aliaga Jr., 47, of 107 Fremont St. in Harrison, several months ago when Bambu Restaurant opened, Lt. James Ladeairous said. Aliaga told them he did not have a liquor license and would apply for one,....
