The village and property owners will share the cost of repairs to shabby sidewalks under a revived and revamped sidewalk improvement program.
The Port Chester Board of Trustees recently approved borrowing $400,000 to reinstate its "Good Neighbor Sidewalk Program," which was discontinued during the 2005-06 budget year due to shoddy repairs and delinquent payments by property owners.
The new program will target areas of the village that are not considered low- to moderate-income neighborhoods, which are eligible for federal Community Block Grant money for sidewalk work, Mayor Dennis Pilla said.......
