Cops: Cashier stole $1,000 from store
PORT CHESTER – A cashier at Bed Bath & Beyond is accused of pocketing $1,000 at the end of a shift earlier this month, admitting to co-workers that she stole the cash when they confronted her about it, village police said.
Geralda Francilme, 18, of Bridgeport, Conn., was arrested Saturday night and charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor, police spokesman Lt. James Ladeairous said.
She is accused of stealing the money on Jan. 19 from the store at 25 Waterfront Place, but employees didn’t realize it was missing until Saturday, police said. Francilme claimed she needed the cash to pay for a hotel after being kicked out of the house where she was staying, Ladeairous said.
Police did not immediately have details on her next court date.
